Fests in the North West!

Looking for more art in the North West to experience now DaDaFest International's come to a close? Here’s some events from our friends and neighbours, each with options for both online and in person engagement:

Manchester International Festival
The programme has now been announced for Manchester’s renowned celebration of exciting artists from around the world. This year we’re particularly looking forward to Christine Sun Kim’s ‘Captioning the City’, a unique interpretation of creative captions which will see them projected onto streets and buildings across Manchester. Read a great article about ‘Captioning the City’ and other work by D/deaf artists over on Manchester International Festival’s blog:

Liverpool Biennial Festival
It wouldn't be a round up of North West festivals without Liverpool's iconic biennial celebration of contemporary art. Their theme for 2021 is 'The Stomach and the Port' and their full exhibition programme is now open! You'll be seeing events and artworks throughout the city up until 27 June, as well as work you can access online.

Find out more here: https://liverpoolbiennial2021.com/

AND Festival
AND (Abandon Normal Devices) Festival is a biennial festival of new cinema, digital culture & art.  Between 27 May – 11 Jul 2021 it's back with a new hybrid format, incorporating outdoor, interior and online spaces. Locales include the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey, and their programme is described as including "field trips via augmented reality seascapes, immersive voyages and floating laboratories [...]  an online programme of radical and disruptive artworks, film screenings, performances, talks and workshops, with more to be announced."

Discover the full programme here: https://www.andfestival.org.uk/festival/

LightNight Liverpool

We had a great time celebrating #LightNightAtHome last year and on 21 May LightNight is back with online experiences, as well as opportunities to attend events in venues throughout the city.

The programme’s theme is ‘Play’, and through music, spoken word, theatre and more it asks: “In a world rife with social, ecological and political inequalities, can play offer us a fun and inventive realm, where we have the space to re-shape the world around us for the better?”.

Can’t wait? Revisit Amina Atiq’s 2020 DaDaFest-commission for LightNightAtHome below:

Stay tuned to be the first to know when there's new DaDaFest events to experience, and make sure you're following us on social media for reminders and reccomendations of more art and culture to check out!
